MCYC - Dance
We got a grant to buy lighting and sound system for our Mendon Community Youth Council Dances! We had a dance for the 24th of July Celebration. We didn't get many people there but the lights were awesome!
Mendon Pioneer Days Celebration

The Saturday after the 24 of July is the Pioneer Days Celebration. We have fun all day long. The day starts with races, all you can eat breakfast, pancake eating contests, kids animal games and a parade. After the parade is the great race. The great race is a race between 4 neighborhood teams. Todd, Justin, and Shonee were in it this year. Our team lost but they still had fun. After the Great Race there are craft booths, kids games and blow up toys. The funnest part of the whole day is the Fireman's hose down! We love it. They bring the firetrucks on to the square and open up the hoses! They also spray the foam. We don't have any pictures of it because everything and I mean everything gets wet! We love it. After the hose down we watch baseball games, eat, talk, eat, etc. At dusk we have an awesome fireworks display! We love our little town!

Ten Years Ago . . .
Ten years ago I had a 7 year old, 5 year old, 3 year old, and a newborn. We had just sold our house. We never anticipated on selling our house in just two weeks so we were moving in with Mom and Dad. We started building our house next door.
The Places I Have Lived . . .
I lived in Layton, Ut. until I was 14, then Okinawa, Japan, for 3 and 1/2 years, then Logan, Ut for 10 years now Mendon Ut.
Five Things on My To do List . . .
1. Finish my quilt blocks. I have only had since November to do them. I have to have 17 done. I started yesterday. I have 24 hours left!
2. Work in my yard. I actually love working in the yard but I aways put things I want to do off while I do things I have to do.
3. Finish Gemma's and Talan's quilts and start Olivia's quilt. Ok I am a procrastinator. Can you tell?
4. Wreaths! I have just a few more to do and then done for the summer! Yeah!
5. Clean my house. It is in bad need. The deep cleaning kind!
That is my to do list for just for today. That is as far ahead as I can think.
Things I enjoy . . .
I enjoy quilting, gardening, talking to my kids, spending time with Todd, scrapbooking, reading, helping others and artwork.
Three Bad Habits . . .
1. Overeating. I really have no self control at all!
2. Procrastinating. I put everything off. I don't mean to, but it seems I always something more pressing to do first.
3. Getting involved in to many things. I have my plate totally full! I need to say no! I just don't know what to say no to.
Five things you might not know about me
1. I spent time in jail. Ok I wasn't booked but I was there a while anyway. Some of us skipped school and went off base. Everyone in my car got drunk. I was the designated driver. We picked Kim up at school. She was totally innocent. She was mad for quite some time. One of my friends mooned an officer's wife at the post office when we were taking him home. So we were all taken down to the jail and put in seperate rooms. We were all required to go to classes at Social Actions for underage drinking. Kim and I only went once and then they told us we didn't have to go back.
2. I got to watch an SR-71 refuel in the air over Korea. That was one of the coolest things I have done. I will remember it forever.
3. I don't like to craft. I used to, but now it seems like I never have time and it just isn't fun.
4. I want to learn to dance. In high school I loved to dance then one time someone made fun of me and I never wanted to dance again. Now watching my kids social dance I love it. I want to learn. It is another one of those someday things.
5. I am totally unorganized but everything about me screems the need to be organized. These two things about me fight constantly. I can't stand unorganization but I never quite get orgainzed.
Jobs I have had . . .
Baby sitter, Gardener, Switchboard Operator, Cook at a restaurant, Jelly Bean and Popcorn lady all before I graduated from high school. Telephone solicitor for 1 day, Exercise equipment tester for 1/2 day. (I thought they were going to kill me) Cook and delivery for a sandwich shop, bookkeeper. Then I had kids. Since then I have been paid to babysit, computer program, retouch photos, refinance houses, sew, make wreaths, quilt, hand paint needle work canvas, reupholstery, making drapes etc., bookkeeper, t-shirt printer . . . I have done more at home jobs then this. I am the queen of at home jobs. I just can't remember what they all are. Can any one else help me? I have also had one other real job since I had kids. I was a night staff for a delinquent girls home.
So now I tag Amy and Sherrie (hurry and make a blog)
Tagged Again!
Joys
1. Watching my kids do the right thing. Nothing brings me more joy then seeing that all the hard work has paid off and they are growing up to be good people.
2. Spending time with Todd. Alone time. Time where we can actually carry on a whole conversation with complete sentences. I live for those times.
3. One on one conversations I have with my kids. During one of those conversations Jessi told me that I was her best friend. It made me cry. She talks more to me then any of the other kids right now but I am working on them.
Fears
1. Having a child kidnapped or hurt by someone else. When I had Justin I started having nightmares that someone was trying to take my kids and since I only had two hands and three kids I could never protect them all. I also started having nightmares of bad things happening to Jessi after she could drive and was out alone at night.
2. Loosing Todd. What more could one fear then the loss of their best friend, lover, confidante, the other half of my life.
3. Having my children fall from the church. Since I believe in Eternity and Eternal families. I want them to be with me forever.
Goals
Are we talking long term or short term?
Short term
1. Get dressed before 8:00
2. Organize my house. . . again.
3. Have a ball with my kids this summer instead of focus on all the things I need to do.
Long term
1. Illustrate one of Todd's poems and have it published.
2. Start painting again. I inherited some paintings from my dear friends Pat and Alice. It has inspired me. Some day I will have time for that.
3. Get caught up on all of my scrapbooks. Problem is I want to go back and change all of the scrapbooks I have done up to this point. I want it all digital now, so it will take me forever. I got caught up just before Brecken was born and haven't done anything since. Nesting does have its perks! Maybe I need to have another baby. Not!
Current Obsessions/Collections
1. Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate. Some days I really need it. Not crave. Need. I have gone through all my kids drawers etc. trying to finds some. But to no avail. I actually get shaky. I wonder if they have a rehab for this. Mandy has a sign in her apartment. That says "There is a skinny girl inside of me screaming to get out, but I can usually shut her up with Chocolate." This is my life.
2. Quilt magazines. I love to look at them and plan what I am going to do when I grow up and have time. I have tons of magizines but have never made something from them.
3. A clean house. I can't be happy (nice) when it is a mess. I am not overboard. I don't need everything cleaned with a toothbrush, but I would like the socks picked up off the middle of the floor etc.
Random surprising facts
1. Like Amy, I am not patient. I, as well as my family, am always surprise that people accuse me of this. Patience is not something that is in my vocabulary. If I ask you to do something, I want it done now! If I want to do something, I want to do it now! No questions asked!
2. I like hip hop music. Ok not all of it. Some of it is really obnoxious. Especially when they say the same thing over and over again. But there are some good ones like Temperature by Sean Paul, Yeah by Usher, and Low by Flo-rida. I know some of them are naughty but I don't listen to the words. :)(most of the time you can't understand them anyway)
3. I have the worst possible combination of personality traits. Jessi gave me a test one day. My family answered the questions for me. I think it is biased though, because they don't know me like I know me. They were wrong. But anyway, I am a blue and red. According to Bro. Richards in the Mountain Crest Seminary, that is the worst personality combination. Jessi described it as this. "I am right 50 percent of the time but that is ok because I know if you just did what I said, I would be right 100 percent of the time." Well thats true isn't it?
I tag Kim, Monica, Lezlie,(I know you were tagged once, but this one is different) Sherrie (I have to help her make a blog first). Sorry I don't know anyone else to tag.
